Aiden has needed extra time with Mommy and Daddy and has struggled with obedience accordingly.
Over the last year we've been convicted to be intentional in our discipline and focus on shepherding his heart and not just correcting his behavior. It's hard, it requires grace and a measure of patience and consistency that we don't always feel we have.
So we're cutting out the "extras" and beginning to breathe a little freer as some of the unnecessary stress fades. We've ditched Netflix and our cellular data plan. Yup, you read that right. Last night Shem said we will probably never carry the hefty extra 80 bucks on our phones ever again. Over wifi our smartphones act as tablets and are fully functional. Yet we are no longer constantly tethered to it since its not our "real" phone.
It's not for everyone. Yet it was a major source of stress for this Momma. It caused distracted stressful parenting on my part. This constant need to check in, or respond to something immediately.
It's been almost a week. A really really good week. A week with very little tv or social media time, and LOTS of play time. Extra snuggles too!
It's a good thing.
