Derby Madness...

Louisville is your normal mid size city. We have a decent choice of things to do, good food and culture. In all reality we are quite average. We love Louisville.

Until the derby.

With a month of festivals leading up to the big day the city is abuzz. Fed Ex closes, no lie, the sign says "in observance of the Derby." What does that even mean? It isn't like its a national holiday guys. Yet people get CRAZY. For a brief moment all eyes are on Louisville.

For two minutes. That is how long the race is. Two minutes.

We happen to live a mere few blocks from Churchill Downs. It is a lovely area, until the Derby. Suddenly streets are closed, detours are everywhere, and cops are in abundance. Not to mention the foot traffic and insane out of towner's who are added to the general chaos.

We celebrated the Derby in high fashion, thanks to the Wal-mart toy department.

Then we went into hibernation. Only a dire emergency could get me out of my house today. My life is worth more than the craziness that surrounds me. So we settled in for a lazy day.

I finally got my kitchen curtains finished after discovering that doing a project right the first time is way quicker! Oh well.

Aiden learned a new trick, only he didn't like it. To tackle the paci retrieval the hard way he climbed his crib, and got stuck. Momma and Dadda laughed and ran for the camera's as he told us all about his disdain at the situation. Never fear, the monkey was returned to solid ground and even got a paci sized reward.

Tomorrow sanity returns to Louisville and we will once again brave the big world around us. Until then we shall enjoy the family time, and a little Kung Fu Panda :)
