Then some little girls came in to play and after a few minutes Aiden disappeared into the maze. Once he was in there he had a blast and we weren't exactly sure he intended to come down. He would not slide. Then our brave boy scooted down the stairs, and back up, down, and back up. His squeals of delight perfectly matched the little girls he played with, oh my.
Then he fell.
There was blood.
Upon looking him over it appeared as if he fell hitting his tooth all the way through his chin about an inch below his lip. It was NOT pretty. He was pretty hysterical, then he calmed down, that is until we left the playground. If you are "two" it is apparently just as traumatic to leave the playground as to end up with a whole in your face.
A call to the pediatrician had us heading there in hopes of avoiding the E.R.
P.S. it actually looks MUCH worse than the picture above.
Since he was calm and still for the doctor she was able to get a really good look. Unlike Mommy who has to go through WW3 just to peek into his mouth at ANY time. Luckily he didn't actually puncture a whole all the way through his chin. He actually sliced his lip with his tooth, cut his tongue, and "filleted" his chin open on whatever he fell on, plus a nasty bruise forming on his chin. Oh and just in case you are wondering filleted was the doctors word not mine!
Big bad nasties my friend.
Stitches were up to us, though she did schedule us an appointment with an oral surgeon for a consultation. Either way it was going to heal, and either way it was going to scar. So we hashed out all the options in the car and decided to skip the trauma of stitches and just let our big rough boy have a scar. It will match the one on his ear, and the many I am sure are to come.
This was not what Mommy had in mind for our adventure today.
He is now sleeping peacefully, Daddy is messing with technology, and Mommy is headed to Target. Oh and ask Daddy how Mommy handled the traumatic event. I am a big girl now! I had more problems with the fit he pitched in the office than the injury itself. Though ask me to pin him down while you sew him up and we might have an entirely different story on our hands!
All in a day's play :)
OUCH. Poor little one and poor mama!
