Oh Christmas Tree...

This year we have decided to make Christmas a bit more simple. Cutting out some of the stressful hustle and bustle and focusing on our family and the true meaning of the holiday.

My husband requested a real tree, and to maybe cut back on the 5 bins of Christmas decor that generally fill our house. His excitement over our new plans was more than enough to convince me that this was a good idea, and that making our own traditions as a family was very important.

So we went on a hunt for that real tree smell. YUMMY!

The boys picked out the sweetest tree and Aiden was fascinated by the whole process. He even said tree! Please excuse the very silly self portrait but I did find the need to prove I was actually there.

Throw in some "pizza pizza" and a big helper and our tree soon found its new home to be quite delightful. Boy does it smell good too!

A few years ago I started making names of God ornaments yet never quite finished them. With a collection of 25 toddler friendly ornaments we are using them as a sort of Advent once a day leading up to Christmas. A simple tree that daily reminds us of why we celebrate!!!

Aiden loved all the new things and was thrilled to find his special nativity once again. I just love viewing Christmas through his little eyes!

Throw in some Christmas cookies, the soft glow of our new tree, and a good Christmas movie and the day ended just about as perfectly as it began.

Merry Christmas!
