For the last 6-9 months every one has told me "oh he will just wake up one day talking your ear off." To be honest it got a bit discouraging because even 3 plus months into therapy that was not the case. His speech was slow, but truly in the last week or so he has come so so far! We are daily amazed at the things that he "says" and Mommy and Daddy look at each other with big grins at every new word!
A few of my favorites:
Melmo - Elmo
Boose- Yogurt (not even the therapist can figure that one out haha)
Googer- Finger
Kuck- Stuck
Ay Go- Let go (very few two word combo's, but this one is emphatic and so funny!)
Another new thing with our little man is his obsession with letters and numbers.
He surprised even Mommy at the number he actually knew when working an ABC puzzle with his therapist this week. She told me he is actually very advanced in his recognition and correct pronunciation of the letter sounds. ADVANCED. No he can't tell me what he needs, but our silly monkey is beyond his years with letter sounds. Haha it makes me laugh sometimes.
When I say obsession with letters I mean O.B.S.E.S.S.I.O.N. As in hollers from his car seat at billboards, finds random letters and numbers high on the ceiling of Lowes, and can hardly eat for staring at the letters on the cereal box. He freaked out this morning when he realized Mommy and Daddy's new sheets had letters on them, and can hardly be pulled from his bath and the fun sticky foam letters he plays with.
We were going to take it easy on the alphabet, but as his intense focus on letters grows it only seems right to take advantage of our eager little learner. So Mommy got a little crafty tonight and made some colorful flash cards. Now I can hardly wait until morning to see the excitement on his face at his new letter game.
I just love my precious monkey, being his Mommy is one of my greatest joys!
LOVE the flash card idea!!!
