Shem's work days end up meaning 14 or more hours away from home, which also means a certain little boy doesn't see Daddy at all. Aiden is keenly aware of what he is missing on those days. When he works several in a row there are often tears.
He ALWAYS looks for him. First thing when he wakes up in the morning, and after nap, just in case. It is both precious and heartbreaking.
While it can be more than pitiful to watch him look longingly for his Daddy it actually makes those full days with Daddy so much sweeter!
Yesterday we got a rare treat. Daddy had a super smooth day at work and came home in time to see his little man before he went to bed just a few minutes late. The glee on his face was amazing. The huge hug even better.
Then our sweet boy put 4 words together for the first time...
I LOVE YOU TOO!
I think we both melted on the spot. Words can't express the love in a parents heart, nor the joy that comes knowing your child understands and reciprocates that love.
