Still Amazed...

Lately I have been in awe of the gift I have been given. There have been quiet moments when I saw so clearly the blessings of God in my life, moments of gratefulness and amazement. Maybe I have those moments more often because of the way Aiden came to us. Though I imagine every mother has those moments.

For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother's womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well. My frame was not hidden from you, when I was being made in secret, intricately woven in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in your book were written, every one of them, the days were formed for me, when as yet there was none of them. Ps. 139:13-16

I look at his tiny face, perfectly formed by the Creator, and am in awe that we were chosen to raise him. I know he is not truly ours, but lent to us from the Father. Yet while we walk this earth he has been placed into our family, adopted, redeemed, chosen.

When I think on that I am in even more awe that I have been chosen by Jesus in much the same way.I am adopted into his family, joint heirs with Christ. How utterly amazing is that? I can't begin to comprehend why he chose me.

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places, even as he chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before Him. In love he predestined us for adoption as sons through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of his will, to the praise of His glorious grace, with which He has blessed us in the Beloved. In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of His grace, which he lavished upon us, in all wisdom and insight making known to us the mystery of His will, according to His purpose, which He set forth in Christ as a plan for the fullness of time, to unite all things in Him, things in heaven and things on earth. In Him we have obtained an inheritance, having been predestined according to the purpose of Him who works all things according to the counsel of His will, so that we who were the first to hope in Christ might be to the praise of His glory. In Him you also, when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of salvation, and believed in Him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit, who is the guarantee of our inheritance until we acquire possession of it, to the praise of His glory. Ephesians 1:3-14

I wonder, does he look on me with the same love? No, his love is greater! As a mother that can be hard to grasp. Yet it is such a beautiful picture of the intensity of Christ's love for His children. I may never fully understand this beautiful picture of God's grace, but until the day I see Him face to face, I will stand amazed.
